The American Eagle Foundation
The American Eagle Foundation was founded in 1985 by a gentleman by the name of Al Cecere. Being driven by a disturbing photograph of numerous eagles that were slaughtered by poachers in the Dakotas, Al founded the AEF to help develop bald eagle environmental recovery programs in the U.S. with his number one goal being to educate, teach respect, admiration and appreciation for these majestic birds and their natural habitat.
The American Eagle Foundation is a non-profit organization, operated by volunteers and funded by corporate contributions and private donations from small business and individual eagle lovers alike. The AEF together with the cooperation of the Dollywood entertainment park in Pigeon Forge Tennessee has developed the “Wings of America” educational theater and the "Eagle Mountain Sanctuary" bald eagle aviary, featuring the largest presentation of non-releasable Bald Eagles. Their Pigeon Forge Eagle Center cares for over 80 birds of prey on a daily basis along with assisting rehabilitation for injured and orphaned birds of prey.
Eagle Nest Cam
The American Eagle Foundation operates the largest eagle breeding facility and education center in the U.S. having released over 100 captive-hatched bald eaglets into the wildernesses of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. During breeding season the AEF provides awareness using UStream.tv, with 24/7 live-streaming video of 2 non-releasable Bald Eagles in their nest.
